1993/214. Review of the arrangements for consultation with non-governmental organizations
The Economic and Social Council decides to conduct, with the assistance of the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations, a general review of current arrangements for consultation with non-governmental organizations, as determined by the Economic and Social Council resolution 1296 (XLIV) of 23 May 1968, with a view to updating them, if necessary, in particular in the light of recent experience, including that gained during the process of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development, to be finalized by 1995. The work of the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations will be open to any interested State member of the United Nations, in accordance with established practice. The Economic and Social Council requests the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations to consider modalities of such a review and submit its proposals to the substantive session of the Council in 1993.
