We must strive for that which is is sacred and essential, the spirit force which is life and which is connected to all. War destroys and makes the great Spirit cry out. We are faced with the moment of truth. Do we choose the path of hate and rage, which will carry us deeper into the abyss of suffering or will we choose the path of understanding, forgiveness, and healing. That path is our only hope to regain the Light and to restore our collective Soul. My prayer is for us all to join hands in the recognition of our humanness and our mutual connection to the Divine, so that we can support each other against the forces of hate which seek to destroy community. I support the United Nations as a place where the leaders of the world come together to work toward a world of mutual respect where all life and our planet is valued. I urge them to stand against war, the trade in weapons, against methods of indoctrination into the path of hate, and to stand for that which is good and right. May Peace prevail on Earth.

The UN must lead the way in conflict prevention and long term peace building. To do so, it needs serious funding, reform, and support from the international community. What chance does Peace have when the world spends £600 billion annually on arms, whilst the UN is expected to make peace on 1/600th of that? First, rich nations should take a lead in increasing this pitiful funding, both our own contribution and encouraging other wealthy nations to do so. Second, re-establishing democracy at the UN is essential to enable greater participation by all nations in international security. The following should become things of the past: bullying, bribing and spying on other Security Council members as in the cynical US attempt, with UK help, to legitimise the war; and, double standards such as letting Israel default on Security Council resolutions whilst making Iraq pay such a terrible price. Further, the UN will be strengthened by clarifications in international law.

I am glad Saddam Hussein has disappeared from the political scene - but if the iraqi population does not go through a period of self-reflection and self-improvement, then I am afraid the next leader of Iraq might be comparable to Saddam Hussein. Dictatorship only flourishes because of certain corresponding traits in the population which should be addressed as well.

We have seemingly reached the place in global cultural evolution whereby a universal body of consensus-based representatives are needed to help integrate the cultures of the world. If this initiative, or one like it, fails a heretofore unknown violent, global feudalism should be anticipated.

We can no longer afford, economically, morally, spiritually, to exist as insular nations. It’s time to cast off these useless myopic struggles that waste our human energies and resources, …it’s time for the world to unite for peace!

Let's spread an influence of less selfishness, more openness, less hatred.. If we keep ourselves united for peace, surely our influence will be felt and grow. Let's bring peace to troubled minds: those that provoke war. And recover the joy experienced in understanding each other!

The world cannot give up on fighting for the rights of the Iraqi people. We tried to stop the invasion and failed them. Now we must join together to ensure a just and humane reconstruction and rehabilitation of a nation that has already suffered too much.
