A National Anthem for Earth Day

Dedicated on Earth Day 1990

Oh say can you see, by the one light in all!
A new world to embrace, at the call of all nations.

Where our children can play in a world without war,
Where we stand hand in hand in the grace of creation,
Where the rivers run clean through the forests pristine,
Where the cities stand tall in the clear skies of freedom.

Oh say do our hearts swell with love and joy forever,
On the planet of our birth, blessed with peace on earth.

Oh say can you see, by the one light in all was dedicated as the Fifth Verse of the United States National Anthem at a Sunrise Interfaith Service on

When the anthem was dedicated, those present were reminded of the process by which the Star Spangled Banner became adopted as the U.S. National Anthem - through a growing popularity in public places, beginning in Baltimore. Oh say can you see, by the one light in all was written as the Peacemakers Planetary Anthem by Stephen Longfellow Fiske
