                NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS

        Draft decision submitted by the Vice-President of
        the Council, Mr. Karel Kovanda (Czech Republic)
        on the basis of information consultations held on
                  draft decision E/1996/L.44

 Non-governmental organizations on the roster for the purposes
   of the work of the Commission on Sustainable Development

    The Economic and Social Council

    (a)     Confirms that the non-governmental organizations
referred to in its decision 1993/220 are on the Roster for the
purposes of the work of the Commission on Sustainable
Development;

    (b)     Decides that those non-governmental organizations
referred to in paragraph (a) above that wish to expand their
participation in other fields of the Council should so inform
the Council's Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations
which will take appropriate action as expeditiously as
possible;

    (c)     Decides also to place this item on the agenda of
the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations for the second
part of its 1996 session;

    (d)     Requests the Secretary-General to inform the
above-mentioned non-governmental organizations of the present
decision.
